Liberalization of Arithmetic

I saw a social media post announcing that 6+4=210, 10+2=812, 12+4=816,etc.

The + operator in this case  denotes a function that maps the concatenation of the numeric symbols for the difference and the sum of two given numeric operands to an ordered pair of numeric operands.   While it is true that conventional notations exist for some operations, anyone may provide an operational definition for any notation🙂 Mathematics deals with definitions, axioms, lemmas and theorems.

Ed ili mi = In our hometown

Intoy ameyam? = Where are you going?
Suma-a-ak ed ili. = I am going home to our hometown.
Ay asag-en? = Is it near?
Ad-adawi et ya. = It is a bit far.
Ay maki-ey ka? = Are you going with me?
Aw kod? = Yes, may I?

Teg-in

Teg-in = Teng-nin = Kankanaey word for cold weather.
manteg-in = manteng-nin = It is cold

mantetek = mantolinek = cold that is usually descriptive of water or air.

Mantetek nan danom = this water is very cold.

Dalmeg, Sawing, Tuppol and Gub-aw are Kankanaey Terminologies that are associated with teeth

Dalmeg = molar
Sawing = canine

Tuppol = person with missing incissors/front teeth
Gub-aw = person with no teeth

man-ngangasi-it = person who is smiling

Andap or Angdap?

Frost" in Atok, Benguet: When I was a kid, I heard people calling it ANGDAP. With the intervention of multimedia nowadays, they call it ANDAP.

Gone were the days when one activity that we did for fun is to fill basins with about an inch of water in the eves of Dec to January so that we got hold of ice blocks in the morning.

Pinikpikan

I looked through my room window and I saw my neighbours preparing for a Pinikpikan part.  A temporary fireplace on the lawn is at work.  Men are getting a grip on a native chicken... Later did I get the aroma that is familiar to any highlander.

Pinikpikan is a delicacy that is native to the people of Benguet, Philippines.  Its main ingredient is chicken meat prepared in a rather sophisticated manner.
