What is wrong with the new Philippine Currency Bills.

It is soon 2013. Didn't government announced two years ago that the old Philippine currency bills be replaced by the new ones on 2013. I prefer the old bills though. If you noticed, the new bills get easily rotten and dirty. It is disgusting that the supposed new peso bills that are circulating are very dirty. Obviously, the quality of the paper used is unacceptable.

The media reports on TV nowadays seem to imply that criminal minds abound. Some people seem unafraid of the implications of doing the crime of killing and stealing. Gone were the days when everyone is aware of the 10 commandments. Gone were the days when everyone honors a God. Gone were the days when most people listen to the teachings of the churches. Oh my God, please do not forsake the Philippines.

Translation Request

I am so sorry that I missed the request of a reader. Anyway, most of the words requested to be translated are used as they are in Kankanaey - i.e. sando is sando, baso is baso, pantalon is pantalon, etc. It's usual that the words are maintained if they are terms referring to items introduced by other language groups. Some terms are of Spanish origin, t-shirt is referred to by the current Kankanaey generation as kamesita. I remember my lolo referring to my pants as "kalson". Later did I know that the Spanish term for pants sounds like "calzone". I wonder why, frying pan is "palso" or "langking". Bowl is "malokong".

Agustinian Experience

"if you are not kind then you are not our kind" is a statement made by an Agustinian sister to a priest. The priest happened to be one of the officiating priests during the perpetual vow rites for sister Nena and sister Flora May. During the ceremonies, the priest shared how he experienced the kindness of the Agustinian sisters. The priest, of course, told the truth. Had you been one of us In the convent of the Agustinian Sisters of our Lady of La Consolacion along Santolan Road in San Juan city, you should have experienced the kindness. The smile of every sister in the area before, during and after the ceremonies is sincere. There were many sisters and they were in white. There was no moment of boredom, no moment of feeling tired. Every moment was light. I was so glad that I made it to the program.


As a part of her concluding remarks, the mother superior of the convent, who is obviously of the same heart as the other sisters, targeted the question "who is your God?" to sister Nena and sister Flora May. Mother superior told them "Go and serve your God". She informed the attendees that sister Nena is to leave for Indonesia and sister Flora May is to go to Thailand. Both shall expand if not introduce the community of the kind people in the other countries.

What is making the poor Filipino feel sad?

According to the news on TV, the DSWD will collect children who will be seen doing money making ventures on the street. The premise is that parents should not allow their children to work. Fair? The thing is there are so many of them, for sure. Some have no choice in the first place yet some are really products of irresponsible parenthood. How much money will the government have to spend and in turn encourage irresponsible parents to multiply. It seems some will feel comfortable in making the irresponsible decision of manufacturing babies. Why worry when there is DSWD. I hope the government will seriously consider their role. Besides, if we only listen to th testimonies of our elders, most of them would say, they have reached their current state because they have been wise, as in tey have subjected themselves to labor, even before finishing elementary school. There shoud be nothing wrong with Filipino kids being "madiskarte" as long as they do not violate the rights of others.
